Softball Career

Position – Pitcher

  • Won 68 consecutive games with no loses as pitcher for Marengo Academy from 1980 – 1982.
  • Member of the 1980, 1981, and 1982 AISA state championship softball teams at Marengo Academy.
  • Member of the 1987 Class A - Alabama ASA State Championship softball team
  • Member of the 1983 and 1984 Alabama Junior College State Championship teams at Shelton State Community College. Placed 4th in the National Junior College Tournament both years.
  • Shelton State pitching record 48-13.

Coaching Career Accomplishments

  • 2009 - Hale County High School, placed second in their area and won the South-Central Regional Tournament.  Hale County finished in the top 6 in the state in Class 2A/AHSAA.
  • 2013 – Hale County High School, won area tournament, North Central Regional Tournament, and finished in the top 6 in the state in Class 2A/AHSAA.
  • 2014 – Hale County High School, won area tournament, runner-up in North Central Regional Tournament, and won the AHSAA Class 2A State Championship.
  • 2015 – Hale County High School, won area tournament, winner of South-Central Regional Tournament, and won the AHSAA Class 3A State Championship.
  • 2016 – Hale County High School, won area tournament, winner of South-Central Regional Tournament, and won the AHSAA Class 3A State Championship.
  • 2017 – Hale County High School, won AHSAA area tournament.
  • 2018 – Hale County High School, second place in area tournament, second place in South-Central Regional Tournament, and won the AHSAA Class 4A State Championship.
  • Coaching record in AHSAA from 2006 to 2018: 284-195-2.

Awards

  • 1981 - Marengo Academy Most Valuable Player in softball.
  • 1982 - Marengo Academy Co-Most Valuable Player in softball.
  • 1982 – Softball scholarship to Shelton State Community College.
  • 1983 – Selected to Alabama Junior College All Region Team at state junior college tournament.
  • 1984 – Outstanding Pitching Award for Shelton State Community College.
  • 2012 – First woman inducted into the Marengo County Sports Hall of Fame
  • 2014 - Class 2A/AHSAA Coach of the Year
  • 2014 – Selected by the National Federation of High School Coaches Association as the 2014 State Coach of the year for softball for Alabama.
  • 2015 - Class 3A/AHSAA Coach of the Year
  • 2015 – Inducted into the West Alabama Softball Hall of Fame
  • 2021 – Inducted into the Alabama Amateur Softball Association Hall of Fame

 

Personal life

  • Married to Bobby Edwards
  • Son - Austin Wyatt. Austin attended Shelton State where he received a degree in electrical technology. He works at the University of Alabama and is the father of my precious granddaughters, Isla and Ava.
  • Daughter – Kayla Wyatt. Kayla attended Shelton State where she was a member of the 2019 State Championship softball team. She continued her softball career at Point University in Georgia and is now a first-grade teacher at Moundville Elementary School and an assistant softball coach at Hale County High School.
