Coach Toby Wilson is set to begin another season leading the Shelton State Buccaneer Anglers, bringing a wealth of experience in competitive bass fishing and business management to the program.

As coach, Wilson oversees all aspects of the Buccaneer Anglers, including athlete development, tournament strategy, sponsorship cultivation, and program growth. His leadership has helped shape the team into a respected competitor in collegiate bass fishing.

Before joining Shelton State, Wilson spent six years as a high school fishing coach, where he helped develop young anglers and guide them to success in competitive fishing circuits. His ability to mentor athletes and foster a winning culture has been a cornerstone of his coaching philosophy.

Since taking over the Buccaneer Anglers, Wilson has led the team to consistent success on the water, competing in prestigious collegiate tournaments and expanding the program’s presence on the national stage. Under his direction, the team has developed strong industry relationships, securing sponsorships and opportunities for student-athletes to grow both competitively and professionally.

In addition to his role as coach, Wilson is the owner and operator of Wilson Hospitality Management, a successful hotel management company. His background in business operations, strategic planning, and leadership directly translates into his approach to coaching, providing his anglers with valuable skills for success beyond competition.

A graduate of The University of Alabama, Wilson earned a degree in Corporate Finance and Investment Management. His passion for fishing extends beyond the collegiate level, as he remains actively involved in the outdoor and fishing community, mentoring young anglers and fostering a culture of sportsmanship and dedication.

A lifelong fishing enthusiast, Wilson enjoys bass fishing, fly fishing, saltwater fishing, boating, and working to grow the sport at the collegiate level.
