Pickens Named ACCC Relief Pitcher of the Year
OXFORD – Shelton State sophomore left-hand pitcher John Michael Pickens has been named the 2025 ACCC Relief Pitcher of the Year.
In 22 appearances this season, Pickens has posted a 5-1 record with five saves a 2.89 ERA. He has worked 28 innings and allowed 10 runs (9 ER) and 17 hits with 36 strikeouts and eight walks. In his last seven appearances, Pickens had three wins and three saves.
The Hueytown native was named the inaugural ACCC Relief Pitcher of the Year in 2024.
He made 24 appearances and compiled a 1-2 record and ACCC-leading 11 saves. He worked 35 innings and allowed 12 runs (5 ER) and 13 hits with 53 strikeouts and 13 walks.
In his two-year career with the Bucs, Pickens has made 46 appearances and compiled a 6-3 record with 16 saves and a 2.00 ERA. He has worked 63 innings and allowed 22 runs (14 ER) and 40 hits with 89 strikeouts and 22 walks.
On Friday, Pickens tied the program record with his 16th career save, tying the record held by David Slovik in 2006.
