Bobby Sprowl Named NJCAA South District Coach of the Year
TUSCALOOSA – Shelton State Community College head baseball coach Bobby Sprowl was named the NJCAA South District Coach of the Year, the American Baseball Coaches Association announced Tuesday afternoon.
It's the eighth time Sprowl has been honored by the ABCA as the South District Coach of the Year, and third year in a row.
Sprowl guided the Bucs to a 48-14 overall record and the program's eighth trip to the NJCAA World Series in 2025. Shelton State posted a 27-9 record en rotue to the school's 18th ACCC regular season championship[ and eighth ACCC Tournament crown. The Bucs then defeated No. 2 LSU Eunice in a best of three series to advance to the NJCAA for the third straight year and fourth time in five years.
The 48 wins were the second most in program history, while the 27 ACCC wins tied for the second most in school history.
Along the way, Shelton State led nation with a 3.14 ERA, finished second in opponents' batting average (.231) and seventh in shutouts (9).
The Bucs also led the nation in total sacrifices (72) and set the school record for fielding percentage with a .977 mark this season.
