TUSCALOOSA - A trio of pitchers combined on a two-hit shutout and five players drove in two runs each, leading Shelton State Community College to a 12-0 win over Wallace State Selma on Tuesday afternoon.
Freshman right handers Walker Craig and Connor Jones, and sophomore right hander Mitt Landers combined for the Bucs fifth shutout of the season.
Freshman third baseman Glavine Lamberth led the offense with three hits and two RBIs. Freshman right fielder Mac Graham added two hits and two RBIs.
Freshman DH Wyatt Howell scored three runs and added two RBIs. Freshman catcher Aiden Carrizales and freshman shortstop Cray Fite both drove in two runs.
Freshman second baseman Ellis Hamiter also scored three runs.
Shelton State (16-8) has won seven straight games and nine of its last 10 games.
Wallace Selma (9-19) has lost 13 straight games.
Craig (1-0) made his first career start and logged his first win for the Bucs. He allowed one hit and struck out two in two innings.
Jones worked three innings with one hit allowed and four strikeouts.
Landers pitched the final two innings, with two strikeouts and two walks
The Bucs scored two runs in each of the first two innings to take a 4-0 lead.
Lamberth had an RBI single and Fite added a sac fly in the first inning to put the Bucs in front 2-0.
Mann had an RBI double and Howell plated another run with a second-inning sac fly to push the lead to 4-0.
The Bucs made it 6-0 with two more runs in the fourth. Hamiter scored on a passed ball and Fite added his second sac fly of the day.
Shelton State doubled its lead to 12-0 with six runs in the fifth.
Mann scored the first run on a wild pitch. Howell followed with an RBI single and Carrizales added an RBI single. Lamberth followed with a run-scoring single and Graham capped the inning with a two-run single.
Shelton State returns to action on Thursday, March 19 with a 2 p.m. doubleheader with ACCC rival Wallace State Hanceville.
