HANCEVILLE - The Shelton State Community College baseball team won its third straight ACCC series by winning three of four games from rival Wallace State Hanceville.
After falling 8-3 in Saturday's first game, the Bucs bounced back for a 9-1 run-rule win in game two.
Shelton State (19-9, 10-2 ACCC) posted one shutout and two run-rule wins over the Lions.
Shelton State has won five straight series against Wallace State.
The Bucs scored seven runs in the sixth inning for the 9-1 win in game two.
The first 10 batters reached base for the Bucs in the decisive sixth inning.
The Lions used three pitchers in the sixth and the trio allowed seven runs, four hits, four walks, and hit three batters.
Freshman catcher Drew Ollis, sophomore right fielder Jackson Henderson, and sophomore third baseman Slade Sullivan had run-scoring singles.
Freshman left fielder Owen Anchors, sophomore DH John Robicheaux, and freshman centerfielder Cody Kropp all drew bases-loaded walks.
Shelton State grabbed a 2-0 lead in the second inning. With one out, Kropp singled and Sullivan smacked a double. Ollis ripped a two-run double with two outs to give the Bucs the lead.
The Lions scored an unearned run in the third to make it 2-1.
It remained a 2-1 game until the Bucs blew the game open in the sixth.
Freshman right hander Tanner Hermesch (2-0), who had been out with an injury since mid February, made his first ACCC start and picked up the win.
Freshman left hander Corbin Hamric tossed three scoreless innings for his league-leading fifth save.
Ollis had two hits and two RBIs. Sullivan added two hits and scored two runs. Both had a double in the game. Henderson had two RBIs.
Wallace State posted an 8-3 win in Saturday's first game.
Aiden Bailou and Jackson Rickett both homered for the Lions.
Sophomore first baseman James Graphos had an RBI double in the third inning.
Freshman left fielder Carson Mann had an RBI single in the seventh.
Freshman Jacob James went the distance to earn the win for the Lions.
Sophomore right hander Will Harrison was charged with the loss.
Graphos finished with two hits, two walks and one RBI.
The Bucs return the field on Monday with a non-conference game at Wallace Selma at Noon. It will be the third meeting of the year between the two teams.
