Bucs Win Fourth Straight ACCC Tournament Title

OXFORD - The No. 16 ranked Shelton State Community College baseball team became the first team in conference history to win four straight ACCC Tournament Championships with a 10-6 win over Southern Union on Sunday afternoon at Choccolocco Park.
Shelton Stare (45-14) jumped on the Bison for six runs in 32-minute bottom of the first inning to win its ninth ACCC Tournament Championship and fourth in a row.
The Bucs have beaten four different teams over the last four seasons in the championship game. The wins have come against Wallace Dothan (2023), Delgado (2024), Wallace State Hanceville (2025) and Southern Union (2026).
Shelton State will face either LSU-Eunice or Delgado in the South District best-of-three series later the week. The Region XXII championship will be decided in a winner-take-all game on Monday at 2 p.m.
Shelton State knocked out Southern Union starter Noah Smith just four batters into the game.
Sophomore Jackson Henderson smacked a leadoff home run to right-center to give the Bucs a quick 1-0 lead.
After the home run, sophomore second baseman James Graphos walked, and freshman shortstop Griffin Rardin and freshman left fielder Owen Anchors had back-to-back singles to make it 2-0.
Smith was replaced on the mound by Maddux Frazier, who served up a three-run home run to sophomore right fielder John Robicheaux as the Bucs stretched the lead to 5-0.
Sophomore third baseman Slade Sullivan drew a one-out walk and freshman catcher Drew Ollis doubled off the centerfield fence to score Sullivan with the sixth run of the game.
The Bison got two runs back in the second inning on a ground out by Bryce Tindal and RBI single by Colton Armstrong.
The much maligned Southern Union bullpen put up one scoreless inning after another as the Bison slowly got back into the game.
The Bison (38-29) struck for two more runs in the fifth on four straight hits to chase sophomore starter Will Harrison.
Haze McCorkle and Jack Ross delivered RBI singles to cut the deficit to 6-4.
Freshman left hander Corbin Hamric, who was named ACCC Relief Pitcher of the Year on Friday, stranded two runners with a pair of groundouts and a strikeout.
He retired the first nine batters he faced before Ethan Crook opened the eighth with a triple. Anthony Palenta followed with an RBI single to make it 6-5.
Hamric (5-1) allowed two runs on five hits for the win. He added five strikeouts and was named the Tournament MVP.
The Bucs, who were held scoreless on three hits after the first inning onslaught, broke the game open with a four-run eighth inning.
Shelton State had five straight two-out base runners to put the game away.
Robicheaux drew a bases-loaded walk and freshman Wyatt Howell delivered a pinch-hit two-run single to push the lead to 9-5.
Robicheuax scored on a wild pitch to make it 10-5.
The Bison tallied a run in the ninth on Crook's infield single.
Graphos, Rardin and Robicheaux all made the All-Tournament Team for the Bucs.
