MILLBROOK - The Shelton State Community College women's flag football team caped the regular season with a 20-0 win over Northwest Shoals at 17 Springs Complex in Millbrook.
The Lady Bucs (9-5) recorded their fifth shutout of the season in the win over the Patriots.
Freshman Sevyn Walker (Dothan) was wreckless on defense in the win. She had three sacks, six pressures and forced numerous illegal blocking penalties.
"Sevyn affected the game today," head coach Doug Rogers said. "She drew numerous illegal blocking flags as they tried to use two people to slow her down."
Freshman Shabreia Brannon wreaked havoc in the secondary with three pass deflections and one interception.
The win over Northwest Shoals came on the heels of a 60-0 loss to league champion Wallace State. The Lions returned five interceptions for touchdowns.
Rogers credited his team for bouncing back in the second game.
"We played much better in the second game," Rogers said. "The team came out after the first game with a more positive and confident attitude even after the first game struggles."
Freshman Shilah Borden scored two touchdowns against the Patriots. She hauled in a 38-yard touchdown reception and a 40-yard touchdown grab.
Freshman Linijia Seay added a 10-yard touchdown reception. She also added one extra point.
Freshman Jayci Sullivan (Northside) threw two touchdown passes and freshman Kameron Everroad (Central HS) threw one touchdown pass.
Rogers also said that freshman Jaidyn Parramore (Central HS) had another great day punting the ball.
