Bucs Take Home 11th Place Finish in Brewton
The Shelton State Men's Golf Team took a small step back in the Coastal Alabama North Spring Invitational held at Juniper Creek Golf Club in Brewton, AL. The team finished 11th out of 15 teams in the event. There were a few bright spots. Freshman Will Norton fired a 148 (74-74) to finish in a tie for 14th. Wyatt McDonald shot 150 (74-76) for a tie at 17th, with Brennen Northcutt close behind with 151 (72-79) in 23rd. Both are freshmen as well. Brady Nelson shot 157, Michael Brewer 167, and River Friend 170. Bryce Ballard withdrew because of injury.
"Unfortunately, we just didn't continue to move forward this week. A few guys did some good things, but there wasn't enough across the team. We had an injury during the first round and couldn't drop a score in either round, so that hurt our score. Play was a little better in the second round, but not where we need to be to compete for a spot at nationals down the road. Will and Wyatt had good tournaments, and Brennen shot his college personal best with even par on Monday. I just got to get the right lineup that can shoot good scores and do it consistently. Talent is there. Doing it on a regular basis is not." Coach Chris Sanford
The Buccaneers are back in action March 10-11 at Glen Lakes Golf Club in Foley, AL.
