Bucs Tied for Second Leehawks Invitational
CLERMONT, Fla. - The Shelton State Community College men's golf team is tied for second place after the first round of the Leehawks Invitational at Green Valley Country Club.
The Bucs and Jefferson State Community College were +17 after Monday's round. University of Mobile (NAIA) holds a four-shot lead (+13) heading into Tuesday's final round.
Shelton State has three players in the Top 10 and all five players in the Top 25 after one round of play.
Reid Larson (Spanish Fort) turned in the best score of the day for the Bucs, as he carded a 1-over 73. Larson shot 35 on the front nine and 38 in the back nine.
Jeff State's Sam Burns is the individual leader with a 1-under par 71.
Will Norton (Covington, Ga.) had a 3-over 75 to rank sixth after day one. He shot 39 on the front side and 35 on the back side.
Cooper Layton (Brantley) shot a 5-over 77 and stands in 10th place. Layton shot 39 on the front nine and 38 on the back nine.
Wyatt McDonald (Kansas City, Kansas.) and Dane Galiano (LaPlace, La.) both carded an 8-over on Monday and are tied for 22nd place. McDonald shot a 41 on the front side and 39 on the back side. Galiano shot 40 on each side.
The Bucs wrap up the event with another 18-hole round on Tuesday.
