Men’s Golf Wins Second Straight Tournament
ENTERPRISE - The No. 7 ranked Shelton State Community College men's golf team shot a 915 to capture the Enterprise State Spring Series at The Bridges at Tartan Pines.
The Bucs have won four overall tournaments this academic year, including three this spring.
Shelton State shot 295, 318 and 302 54-hole total for its second straight tournament championship.
"Really trying conditions for this tournament," Shelton State head coach Chris Sanford said. "We had to play 27 (holes on both days) because of the storms that came through so we could get all 54 holes in.
"The guys played well round one but really hit a wall on the extra nine holes. They came out today and got through the first nine to finish round two, and played pretty well in the final 18 to win it. Really proud of them for hanging tough and battling it out to get the win."
Freshman Reid Larson and sophomore Will Norton tied for third to earn All-Tournament Team honors.
Larson shot 74-72-79 to finish with a 9-over 225. His second round total 72 included five birdies. He shot one-under 35 on the front nine.
