Men’s Golf 17th Headed into Final Round

PLYMOUTH, Ind. - The No. 7 ranked Shelton State Community College men's golf team stands in 17th place headed into the final round of the 2026 NJCAA Men's Division II National Golf Championship at Swan Lake Golf Resort.
Shelton State shot a +26 (314) in Thursday's third round.
"The wind was back today, and the course was playing tough," head coach Chris Sanford said. "Still, we just have not gotten on track this whole week. Never got into rhythm to play several holes in a row well, to gain confidence. So, the struggle bus rolls on.
"We have one more day to prove we are a really good team and end this year on a good note."
Freshman Cooper Layton led the Bucs for the third straight day with a 75 (+3). He remains in the Top 20 with a +6 54-hole total.
Sophomore Michael Brewer shot a 77 in the third round and is +10 through 54 holes.
Sophomore Will Norton fired an 80 on Thursday and closed with a birdie and two pars.
Freshman Reid Larson shot and 82 and sophomore Wyatt McDonald fired an 83z
No. 6 Murray State (+10) holds a one-shot lead over No. 2 Heartland (+11) headed into the final 18 holes.
Heartland fired an even par 288 on Thursday to make up seven shots ok the standings.
No. 13 Meridian (+14), No. 14 Southeast (Nebraska) (+22) and No. 3 South Mountain (+23) round out the Top 5.
Murray State's Connor Tallentire and Meridian's Jace Duckworth are tied for first place at -5 headed into the final round.
