DECATUR - The Shelton State Community College softball team dropped a doubleheader at Calhoun on Thursday afternoon.
Calhoun scored three unearned runs in the bottom of the first inning and held on for a 3-0 win.
The Lady Warhawks scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth for a 4-3 comeback win in the nightcap.
Shelton State (28-16, 16-10 ACCC) remains in third place in the conference standings.
Calhoun (31-25, 16-14 ACCC) took advantage of three Lady Bucs errors to mount their lead.
Addilee Wilson (17-10) tossed a complete game shutout for the win. She scattered seven hits and struck out six.
Sophomore Mackenzie Harper (9-7) had her four-game winning streak snapped as she allowed three unearned runs in seven innings.
Megan Wilbanks and Chloe Mitchell had two hits each for the Lady Bucs.
The defense had three more errors in game two as Calhoun rallied for a 4-3 win.
The Lady Warhawks scored the tying and winning run on an error in the fifth inning.
Shelton State made six errors in the two games, which led to five unearned runs.
Calhoun scored single runs in the first and second inning to take a 2-0 lead.
The Lady Bucs scored three runs in the third to take a 3-2 lead. Freshman left fielder Laila Watkins had an RBI single and Mitchell added a two-run triple.
Watkins had three hits and one RBI.
Mitchell finished with two hits and two RBIs. She had four hits in the two games.
The series continues Saturday, May 2 at 1 p.m. in Tuscaloosa.
