Lady Bucs Defense Stymies Pearl River
TUSCALOOSA - The No. 12 ranked Shelton State Community College women's defense used a stout defense in its 60-36 win over Pearl River Community College Monday night.
The 36 points were the fewest points allowed by the Lady Bucs this season. Shelton State held Southern Union and Coastal Alabama South to 36 points last season.
Shelton State (8-2) also held Pearl River to 1-for-16 (.063) shooting from behind the arc. The Lady Bucs have the fourth-best 3-point shooting defense in the country.
Pearl River (6-2) led 2-0 before the Lady Bucs scored the next 15 points and were never threatened again.
Shelton State held Pearl River to single-digits in the first (4) and third (6) quarter.
Freshmen Aryah Grace (Meridian, Miss.) and Kaitlyn Gipson (Hoover) both scored double figures.
Grace had a game-high 15 points and six rebounds. She matched her season-high with four 3-pointers.
