Lady Bucs Sign Transfer Layla Cannon

Tuscaloosa- Shelton State Women's Basketball is thrilled to announce the addition of Layla Cannon!

Cannon comes to Title Town as a sophomore after spending her freshman season at Nova Southeastern University in Davie, Florida. Layla spent her prep career at perennial power Hoover High School alongside current Lady Buc Kaitlyn Gipson. As a senior she averaged a near double-double, posting 12.2 points and 9 rebounds to cap off a career that included four AHSAA Class 7A state championships. Layla was also a member of the National Honor Society, the National Technical Honor Society, and the Health Occupations Students of America.

 "Layla brings an elite combination of size and skill with the versatility to play multiple positions," said head coach Madonna Thompson. "Layla is coming from the premier high school program in the state and when you add in a year of high-level collegiate experience her potential is limitless. Coach (Krystle) Johnson is among the best in the nation at any level and we are excited to have another Hoover product join our family!"
