2nd Ranked Lady Bucs Tee Off in Mobile
The Lady Buccaneer golf team had a successful fall season and will now look to continue that and more once the spring tournaments begin in mid-February. Building off last year's four-win season, including the conference championship and national tournament bid, the Lady Bucs finished runner-up, first, runner-up, and first in the tournaments of the fall. They also were #1 in the nation in the first two national rankings before slipping to #2. Each team member has contributed to the team success from tournament medalist, top 3, top 10, career best round, and conference player of the week. All seven players are in the top 30 of the NJCAA Division II national rankings.
This spring will bring six tournaments to the Lady Bucs schedule and offer them a chance to achieve some big accomplishments. They will look to defend their conference championship, improve on their district performance of a year ago, make the national tournament, and challenge for a national title. Every player will have to push each other to make those goals a reality.
"These ladies have goals of exceeding the results of their inaugural season. They have played well so far, but they must continue to work on the little things so they can be more consistent. They have shown they can score well, but they have to do it more often as a group every tournament. I hope they continue to look at the big picture and realize how successful they can be with continued hard work and extra effort. I'm really looking forward to seeing what this group has done by the end of May." – Coach Chris Sanford
