Women’s Golf Holds Top Spot After First Round at FGC Invitational
PLANT CITY, Fla. - The No. 1 ranked Shelton State Community College women's golf is in first place after the first round of the FGC Lady Timberwolves Invitational at Quail Heights Country Club.
The Lady Bucs carded a 392 (+37) score on Monday and holds a 16-shot lead over No. 3 ranked Florida Gateway, who is +53 after 18 holes.
No. 4 Wallace State (+60), No. 5 Jefferson State (+69) and No. 7 Southern Union (+78) round out the Top 5.
All five Lady Bucs are among the Top 7 scores after Monday's round.
Sawyer Hobbs stands in third place with an 8-over 79. She posted three birdies and shot 35 on the back nine.
Emma Bark and Riley Fritz are tied for fifth after shooting a 9-over 80.
Bark had seven pars and one birdie in the first round. Fritz had nine pars and one birdie.
Katie Brannon and Katie Hallmark are tied for seventh with an 11-over 82.
Brannon had three birdies on the day, including two on the front nine. Hallmark had seven pars and one birdie.
Shelton State has Addison Davis and Kelsey Mason playing as individuals, and their scores do not count towards team totals.
Davis is 12th with an 11-over 81. Mason is 24th with a 20-over 91.
The final round will be Tuesday, Feb. 10.
