Women’s Golf Wins Third Tournament of the Spring
PENSACOLA, Fla. - The No. 1 ranked Shelton State Community College women's golf team cruised to the championship at the Jefferson State Women's Spring Invitational at Marcus Pointe Golf Club.
Shelton State a two-day total 625 (+41) and won by 36 strokes over rival Wallace State Hanceville.
Shelton State posted its third tournament win of the spring and seventh overall this school year.
The Lady Bucs turned in its best round of the season on Tuesday with a 14-over (379).
"The team played pretty well for the tournament, especially today," head coach Chris Sanford said. "That was our best round score of the year.
"Overall, a good scoring tournament, and I'm proud of their improvement from the last tournament. Looking forward to the next tournament at Burningtree in Decatur."
Emma Bark finished second overall in the tournament with four-over 150 total. She shot a two-over 75 (par was 73) on both days and made three birdies.
Katie Hallmark finished fourth with six-over 152 score. Hallmark made three straight birdies on the front nine on Tuesday and shot an even-par 37.
Riley Fritz tied for fifth place with a +12 (158). Fritz shot 76 on Tuesday and made three birdies.
Katie Brannon shot +8 to finish 13th in the tournament.
Addison Davis finished 21st with a plus-27. Kelsey Mason shot a +39 to finish 41st.
