Bucs Blowout Wallace Selma
DECATUR - The Shelton State Community College men's basketball team cruised to a 92-63 win over Wallace State Selma on the final day of the Calhoun Community College Classic.
Shelton State (2-0) blistered the nets for second straight game. The Bucs were 26-for-41 (.634) from the field, 13-for-20 (.650) from three-point range, and 12-for-15 (.833) from the foul line.
The Bucs also added 18 assists, 11 steals and six blocked shots.
The Bucs placed four players in double figures and 13 different players scored in the blowout win over the Patriots.
"We've got a lot of weapons offensively," head coach Joe Eatmon said. "However we've got to continue to hang our hats on the defensive end. I'm proud of our effort. Now we just have to work on limiting our turnovers. And being a little more disciplined on the defensive end."
Shelton State averaged 88.5 points per game in its two tournament wins and shot 57-for-94 (.606) from the field and
23-for-44 (.522) from beyond the arc.
Sophomore forward Bryant "B-dot" Aijero (Missouri City, Texas) and freshman forward Terrance Pruitt (Huntsville) led all scorers with 13 points each. Prewitt also added four steals.
Freshman forward King Larkin (Bryant HS) made all five field goal attempts and finished with 12 points.
Sophomore guard Marchello Perkins (Bryant HS) collected 11 points and blocked three shots. He also made three 3-pointers.
Sophomore guard DJ Hamlett (Hillcrest) had eight points and a game-high seven assists.
Shelton State will play its home opener on Thursday, Nov. 6 against Itawamba Community College. The women's team play at 5:30 p.m., followed by the men's game at 7:30 p.m.
