Bucs Run Past EMCC, 88-69
TUSCALOOSA - The Shelton State Men's basketball team ran past East Mississippi Community College 88-69 on Monday at the Umphrey Center.
Sophomore forward Bryant (B-Dot) Aijero recorded his third straight double-double, leading the Bucs to their third straight win.
Aijero posted 10 points and 10 rebounds in Monday's win over the Lions. He is averaging 11 points and 11 rebounds in his last three games.
Aijero was one of five players in double figures for the Bucs.
Freshman King Larkin (Tuscaloosa), sophomore Devin Bowers (Lithonia, Ga.), freshman Rodwick Jackson (Dothan), and freshman Anderson Wilkin (Tuscaloosa) all finished with double figures.
Larkin led the with 18 points. Including some clutch baskets in the second half to keep the Lions at bay.
Bowers made eight of his nine shots (4-5 FG, 4-4 FT) and finished with 13 points, including nine in the second half.
"I could have played better, I had too many turnovers (5)," Bowers said. "As a team we played well that's all that matters. When we do what we do everyday we can beat anybody."
Jackson had 12 points and five rebounds. Wilkin added 10 points and two, 3-pointers.
After a close game early, the Bucs (6-1) took a 19-9 lead in the first eight minutes. The Bucs led by as many as 22 in the first half before taking a 42-22 halftime lead.
East Mississippi (6-1) cut the deficit to 10 points twice in the second half before the Bucs sealed the win.
Shelton State will host East Central at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 20.
