Bucs Hit Century Mark; Takes Sole-Possession of First Place in ACCC
HANCEVILLE - The Shelton State Community College men's basketball team knocked off long-time rival Wallace State Hanceville 101-80 at Tom Drake Coliseum.
The game was originally scheduled for Jan. 19, but inclement weather forced the game to be rescheduled.
Shelton State (18-5, 5-2 ACCC) has moved into sole possession of first place in the ACCC standings.
The Bucs have scored 100 points four times this season, including each of its last two games. The last time the Bucs scored 100 points in consecutive games was Dec. 15-16, 2024.
Shelton State had four players in double figures against the Lions.
Sophomore forward Bryant Aijero posted his sixth double-double of the season with 21 points (6-of-7 FG and 9-of-11 FT) and 14 rebounds. The 21 points and nine free throws are season-highs.
Freshman TJ Pruitt recorded his second straight double figure game with 19 points and seven rebounds. He was 8-of-15 from the floor and 3-of-6 beyond the arc.
Pruitt has 42 points (16-of-24 FG) in his last two games.
Freshman King Larkin had another big night with 18 points (6-of-7 FG) and six rebounds.
Larkin has 37 points (12-of-17 FG and 10-of-12 FT) in the last two games.
Sophomore Wesley Roberson tallied a season-high 18 points on a perfect from the floor, He made all six field goal attempts, including four three-pointers.
Shelton State had control of the game by halftime when they took a 50-17 lead into the dressing room.
The Bucs shot 51.7 percent (17-of-33) from the field, including five three pointers. The Bycs also made 11-of-12 free throws.
Shelton State shot even better in the second half, making 17-of-26 (.631) shots. The Bucs were 11-of-15 (73.3) at the foul line.
Freshman Jonas Wilkin scored the Bucs 100th point on a lay-up with 29.1 seconds left.
For the game, Shelton State shot 56.7 percent (34-of-60) from the field, including nine three-pointers. The Bucs made 22-of-27 (81.5) free throws.
Wallace State Hanceville (12-11, 4-3 ACCC) had four players in double figures, led by Jaeden Rush's 23 points.
Shelton State returns home on Thursday, Feb. 12 against Lawson Stare. The women's game begins at 5:30 p.m. and the men's game at 7:30 p.m.
