Shelton State Cliches ACCC Regular Season Championship
TUSCALOOSA - The Shelton State Community College men's basketball team clinched the 2026 ACCC regular season championship with a resounding 87-57 win over Gadsden State on Monday night.
The Bucs (23-6, 10-3 ACCC) jumped out to a 9-2 lead a never looked back in the blowout win.
"This team worked hard all year," Shelton State head coach Joe Eatmon said. "This program hasn't made the tournament the last three years and now we've won the regular season championship.
"Our first goal was to win the regular season championship. Now, it's on to the tournament to win two games to go to the National Tournament."
Shelton State had 13 different players score in the win over the Cardinals.
Sophomores DJ Hamlett, Shah Hall, and Marchello Perkins all scored double figures.
Hamlett finished with 12 points and four rebounds. Hall had 11 points, seven rebounds and two blocked shots. Perkins added 10 points and five rebounds.
The Bucs got 38 points from its bench.
Freshman Rodwick Jackson had 12 points, six rebounds and four assists.
Sophomores Mason Jones had seven points, Bryant Aijero added six points, and B had five points.
Shelton State finished with a perfect 14-0 record at home this season. The Bucs have had four perfect home seasons under Eatmon.
"I told our team that championship teams don't lose at home and don't get swept," Eatmon said.
Shelton State closes out the regular season on Thursday, March 5 at Coastal Alabama South.
