TUSCALOOSA - Freshman right-hander Karlie Beth Beasley tossed a one-hit shutout and sophomore first baseman Chloe Mitchell drove in four runs to lead the Shelton State Community College softball team to a 9-0 win over Calhoun Community College on Saturday.
Calhoun (32-26, 17-15) won game on 7-4 and took three of the four games coming the weekend series.
Shelton State (29-17, 17-11 ACCC) remains in third place in the league standings with one series remaining. The Lady Bucs will face 2026 ACCC regular season champion Northeast Alabama next weekend.
Mitchell snacked a three-run home run in the four-run first inning. She added an RBI triple in the fourth. Mitchell had four hits and four RBIs in the double header.
Meanwhile, Beasley held the Warhawks to one hit in five scoreless innings with eight strikeouts. She has recorded 136 strikeouts this season and is 15 away from tying the single-season school record.
Beasley faced the minimum in five innings. After a first-inning single and caught stealing, she retired the final 12 batters she faced.
Megan Overton had an RBI double in the first and Megan Wilbanks made it 5-0 with an RBI single in the second.
The Lady Bucs made it 7-0 in the third when sophomore third baseman Ty Williams scored on a passed ball and sophomore centerfielder Layla Bradshaw added an RBI single.
Mitchell had an RBI triple and freshman Lilly Vold added an RBI ground out to make it 9-0 in the fourth.
Calhoun snapped 4-4 tie with two runs in the sixth inning en route to a 7-4 win in game one.
The Warhawks plated two runs on a two-out error by Bradshaw in centerfield.
Calhoun added an insurance run in the seventh on Sage Lewis' pinch-hit double.
Sophomore right-hander Mackenzie Harper suffered her second loss of the series after she allowed seven runs (5 earned) and 10 hits in seven innings. She added seven strikeouts.
Calhoun scored twice in the top of the first inning on an RBI double by Madison Allen and RBI ground out by Tessa Jacobs.
Shelton State took a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the first on sophomore Ragan Landrum's bases-loaded double.
Kenley Holcombe tied the game with an RBI single in the second inning.
Addison Wallace hit a solo home run to put the Warhawks up 4-3 in the fourth.
The Lady Bucs tied the game on Williams sac fly in the fifth.
Bradshaw finished 4-for-7 with three runs and one RBI. Watkins added three hits and scored three runs.
