Lady Bucs Blowout Gadsden State
TUSCALOOSA - The No. 5 ranked Shelton State Community College women's basketball team defeated Gadsden State Community College 80-43 in the final regular season home game.
The Lady Bucs only led 16-12 late in the first quarter but used a 10-2 run to take a 26-14 lead after the first quarter.
Shelton State (26-3, 12-1 ACCC) stretched the lead to 44-26 at halftime.
Gadsden State (13-15, 5-8 ACCC) would get no closer in the second half.
Freshman Nadia Norfleet, freshman sophomore Alana Obianozie, freshman Aryah Graceson, and freshman Ella Wheeler all scored double figures.
Norfleet led the way with 15 points (6-for-13 FG), six rebounds and three assists.
Obianozie was a prefect 6-for-6 from the field, including two, three-pointers, and had 14 points and six rebounds.
Grace added 14 points and five rebounds.
Wheeler had 10 points, three rebounds and three assists.
Freshmen Sara Amos and Haley Trotter both had double digit rebounds.
Amos had a career-high 12 rebounds.
Trotter pulled down 10 rebounds for her 10th double-digit rebound game of the season. She has 40 rebounds in her last three games.
Gadsden State missed its first 19 three-point shots and finished 3-for-23 beyond the arc. In two games against Shelton State this season, the Cardinals only made 3 of 32 three-pointers.
Shelton State will play its final regular season game on Thursday, March 5 at Coastal Alabama South.
